ARCHIPELAGOS
Mozambique has some of the most beautiful, remote islands imaginable. Surrounded by the warm Indian Ocean, islands along the length of the Mozambique coastline offer paradise beach experiences.
Most of the accommodation on the islands is suitable for small to medium sized groups. Accommodation varies greatly from place to place both in terms of architectural style and its surrounds. African Agenda will recommend the most appropriate property according to the budget, size and expectations of a group. Due to the remoteness of the islands, groups would fly to/from the resorts and sometimes charter boat transfers are used. Mozambique is an ideal destination for an adventurous group wanting a two centre itinerary that includes tropical beach downtime at its best.
ACCOMODATION:
Beach style accommodation and upmarket lodges
The accommodation can vary from island to island in terms of budget and amenities. As with all our
programmes, African Agenda will select the most appropriate property according to group size and
budget..
EVENING FUNCTIONS:
Fish barbecues on the beach, themed dinners, dining under the stars – there are a myriad possibilities.
ACCESSIBILITY:
Johannesburg is the international gateway airport. There are also other various airports within
Mozambique including Pemba and Maputo that accommodate smaller commercial craft.
Depending on the size of the group, African Agenda may recommend charter flights to/from the various
destinations.
ACTIVITIES:
Breathtaking snorkelling, scuba diving, deep sea fishing, watersports, cultural visits (depending on island) Snorkelling in safe, calm bays protected by coral reefs, scuba diving, big game fishing, dune boarding, beach games, windsurfing, and island discovery tours are some of the activities on offer.
GROUP SIZE:
Small to medium size (maximum recommended size 48 sharing, 24 singles)
DESTINATION:
The islands offer true downtime away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. It would work well to combine Mozambique with somewhere like Victoria Falls or Cape Town or possibly also with Chobe or Okavango depending on the profile of the group and their objectives.
CLIMATE:
As with much of Southern Africa, there are really only two distinct seasons, winter and summer. During the hottest time of year, October to March, the days are hot and humid with warm evenings. April to September, the days are hot whilst evenings are milder.
Botswana is blessed with spectacular
landscapes and abundant wildlife. The
Kalahari dominates central and southern a
Botswana and has concentrations of wildlife
including giraffe, gemsbok, hartebeest, eland,
kudu, springbok, lion, cheetah and wild dog.
