An invitation from FISA 2009 host Rowing South Africa

Dear Colleagues,

Rowing South Africa is proud to host the FISA Extraordinary Congress 2009 and we look forward to welcoming our fellow federations to Cape Town to discuss issues related to the organisation of rowing.

This international event is held every 4 years, and the most recent gathering was hosted by the Croatian Rowing Federation in Dubrovnik.

With this invitation to attend FISA 2009 in Cape Town, I encourage you to participate in this important planning and education event, to contribute to the development of the sport, and to be a part of the future of rowing.

The unique format of the FISA Extraordinary Congress 2009 ensures that each and every federation is an equal contributor to the regulation and development of rowing. It is therefore fitting that FISA 2009 will be held in South Africa, where the transition to democratic governance has been an internationally recognised success story.

In this spirit, please contact me and the Organising Committee through our Congress Secretariat; we will be pleased to accept your suggestions for topics to be discussed at the congress.

FISA 2009 in Cape Town will also offer delegates and accompanying persons the opportunity to experience beautiful Cape Town, its surrounds and the compelling country that is South Africa. We hope that some of you will be able to extend your visits.

Join us in Cape Town to fulfil FISA’s vision: “To encourage the development of the sport of rowing and strengthen the bonds that unite those who practice it.” I look forward to welcoming you to FISA 2009.

Yours sincerely,

Rod McKinnon
President, Rowing South Africa
