Conferencing in South Africa
In May 2007, the South African Conference Industry was awarded 31st place by the International Congress
and Conference Association when compiling a list of the leading conference destinations in the world. In
2007,
Meetings and Incentive Travel magazine released survey results which placed Cape Town as the
world´s favourite
long-haul destination city with South Africa elected 2nd among the world´s favourite
long-haul destinations.
This growth can be attributed to a number of factors, including the development of state–of–the–art
conferencing
facilities capable of hosting large international conferences and the emergence of South Africa as a destination
that offers international delegates a new, exciting and affordable conference alternative.
South Africa has a diverse selection of conference venues and facilities. Options for larger conferences include state-of-the-art convention centres such as The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), Durban International Convention Centre and The Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg.
