The Mine Ventilation Society of South Africa (MVSSA) was hosted IMVC 2014 at Sun City in South Africa’s Pilanesberg Game Reserve, from 2 to 8 August 2014.

The aim of the International Mine Ventilation Congresses was to promote and nurture communication between ventilation professionals in order to improve mine ventilation engineering and the related health and safety aspects. The focus of IMVC 2014 in South Africa was the sharing of knowledge gained since the previous congress with a view to improving, developing and refining aspects of ventilation, refrigeration, cooling, health and safety, and related energy efficiency in mines internationally.

The theme of IMVC 2014 was “Managing mine ventilation systems in the modern context: meeting mining, economic, sustainability, and health and safety challenges”. The congress programme focused on all aspects of mine ventilation and the management of related systems.

Congress hosts MVSSA enjoyed welcoming delegates to our beautiful country, and achieved thier goal to offer participants a world-class congress experience, showcasing the best of mine ventilation research, in the warm and vibrant South African setting.
