2008 CONVENTION

The Actuarial Society of South Africa's 2008 Convention took place 23-24 October in Cape Town, at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

CONVENTION THEME

Our profession, our industry, our country, our planet. Today we face changes never before imagined. Climate change, genetic engineering, energy crises, the rise of China, transitions in local and international political leadership. How are we as the actuarial profession “making financial sense of the future”? And how can we shape the industries we serve for the benefit of all, in light of developments as diverse as Enterprise Risk Management, Solvency II, Treating Customers Fairly and Retirement Reform?

By understanding the drivers of change at all levels, members of the Actuarial Society are better equipped to make financial sense of the future and thus to contribute to the shaping of a better future for all. This was the thinking behind our 2008 Convention theme: The Business of Change: 2010 and beyond.

SURVEY (closes at midnight, 31 October 2008)
