The Actuarial Society of South Africa's 2009 Convention Lite and the Pensions, Health and Life Seminars took place 19 - 20 May in Johannesburg, at the Sandton Convention Centre.

CONVENTION THEME

The actuarial profession can provide clarity in times of turmoil like the current global financial crisis. This is reflected in our 2009 Convention theme: "clarity in a complex world". The role of the actuary is continually evolving and the work we do must always adapt to reflect changing economic and political landscapes. By understanding the drivers of change, we can ensure that we are truly providing clarity to the industries we serve.

Monday, 18 May

Swiss Re Golf Day
The annual golf day, hosted by Swiss Re, will take place on Monday, 18 May 2009 at the Johannesburg Country Club, Woodmead. Please register using the Registration Form and be sure to provide your handicap and indicate whether or not you will be attending the prize-giving ceremony. Tee-offs will be from holes 1 and 10, with the first tee-off beginning at 11h00. Please note that this Golf Day is available on a "first come, first served" basis and is an Individual Stableford Competition.

 

The RSVP deadline is Monday, 4 May 2009.

Actuaries Without Frontiers social outreach event
Revamping the after-school care centre run by the Heartbeat Organisation in Katlehong, a township in Johannesburg. Heartbeat is an NGO which runs different programs to assist orphans in South Africa. For more information about Heartbeat, please visit their website at www.heartbeat.org.za. The work will include painting the house, building cupboards , replacing tiles and ceiling board panels etc.
